We have so many things to be thankful for everyday but sometimes we get too busy to take the time to think about them. Thanksgiving day is a great time to do just that! Maybe you have a special Thanksgiving Day tradition that you do every year. In my family we all go around the table before we eat and tell one think that we are thankful for. Wanted GREAT GRABBERS

We are learning in our story writing that the first sentence needs to grab our readers attention so they want to read on in our stories. We are working really hard to create amazing grabber sentences. You could have written I walked to school today or On my way to school today I saw a dark shadow following me. Thanksgiving Around the World

Thanksgiving is a great time to remember all the things we have to be Thankful for! Did you know they celebrate thanksgiving all around the world? I WONDER what they do in different places around the world? For this challenge go on Google and type in thanksgiving celebrations around the world. In our Global Read Aloud book The Fourteenth Goldfish Ellie’s grandfather is a Scientist. He has created a potion that turns him into a teenager again. There are many different types of scientists in the world. Go on the computer and Google different types of scientist. After you have read about the different scientist pick one you would like to be. We LOVE to read books in Grade 3!!!! You get to go on a new adventure with the turn of every page. You can read about other places in the world, dinosaurs, heroes, mysteries, and adventures. Let’s get other people excited about the books we are reading and create some BOOK BUZZ. When you read a book put the title, author and a short description about the story that will get other kids excited to read the same story in the comment space for this post. Beware Volcanoes Errupting !!!

We have been creating paper mache volcanoes in our art class. The robots that have landed on our school come from the planet Zuron and they have hundreds of volcanoes on their planet. They feel homesick so we are trying to make them feel more at home on our planet. They are looking amazing Grade 3’s. We have been learning about Mount Saint Helen. Did you know that Mount Saint Helen slept for 123 years and then erupted? Can you look up on the computer some cool volcano facts and add them to the comments for this post? Thanks Grade 3’s YOU ROCK!!

Soil Labratory Opening Soon !!!!

In our Science class we are learning about the amazing thing called SOIL!!! Soil is so amazing yet we take it for granted every day. There are many different types of soil, uses for soil and ways that soil can be made. We need to find ways to stop soil erosion which destroys our precious soil!! Can you tell me some uses of soil, kinds of soil, how we can make soil better, describe the particles in the different soils, what soil erosion is and how to stop it?

Next week we will be opening up our soil laboratory and the Grade 3 Little Mad Scientists will be finding out first hand what the different types of soil feel like, look like and do some cool experiments!! We can hardly wait.

What are you thankful for this year on Thanksgiving Day?

We have so many things to be thankful for living here in Canada. We are learning about children’s rights in our Social class. We have learned that not all children have the same opportunities as us. We have learned that not all countries are as peaceful as ours. We get to go to school everyday, we have healthy food, clean water, peace in our country, love. and safe homes to live in. Take time to think of all the amazing things you have to be thankful for this year and share some with us?

Mystery Skype

Today we had our first Mystery Skype where we used our maps and questions to try to guess the other classrooms location. We had to ask questions that required either a yes or no response. It was great to see how well both classes did at coming up with great questions to try to pin point the other schools location. They guessed our location first. They were from Ontario, Canada. Thank you to Ms. Kranenburg’s Grade 2/3 class for the great learning connection.

Amazing Fish Facts !!!!

We have been learning facts about goldfish. Did you know that goldfish don’t have stomach’s? I was amazed to learn that goldfish have been known to live for over 40 years!! What other facts do you know about goldfish ? Go on the computer and google fun facts about goldfish for kids . Try to find some facts that you don’t already know.
